Today Reminder – 24 May 2017

A reminder for today
So you must live as God's obedient children. Don't slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn't know any better then. But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. (1 Peter 1:14-15)

Peter continues to write about living as holy people. He is quite specific when he reminds us that we should not fall back in our old ways of living to satisfy our own desires. This is a common thing that we all do. I can remember how many times I have fallen into my old habits just to satisfy my own desires. I have made so many mistakes, but when we are confused and gullible for the lies of the enemy we get vulnerable. We tend to isolate ourselves and this is exactly what the enemy wants. You see when you make a mistake and you fall back into your old habits you are ashamed of it and like Adam and Eve you try and hide from God. This is when we isolate ourselves and then the enemy moves in to make us fall. You are not alone and you have nothing to be ashamed of. Jesus knows exactly what it means to be tempted and He knows how easily we can fall. It reminds me of the incident with the woman caught in adultery. The Pharisees said the by the law of Moses she must be stoned and asked Jesus what He thought. Jesus said: "All right, but let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone!"

Jesus looked up and saw that none of her accusers remained. He looked at her and said: "Where are your accusers? Didn't even one of them condemn you?" "No, Lord," she said. And Jesus said, "Neither do I. Go and sin no more."

This is so important what Peter writes here. He says that we must sin no more and we must live holy just as the Lord who lives in us is holy. We know better, because we are better. We see clearer, because we see with holy eyes. Stand firm and do not let the enemy isolate you. I am here and you are in my prayer, but the Lord is with you always. I will fight with you and I will pray for you – always.

Lord, do not allow the enemy to isolate us so that we fall back into our old ways. Let us stay focussed on you as we fight the enemy. Make us stronger and guide our hearts away from evil. In Jesus name.

Have an awesome day, dear friend of Jesus.

Cheers

Just to remind you

When I say that 'I am a Christian', I am not shouting that 'I am clean living. I'm whispering 'I was lost, but now I'm found and forgiven.'  When I say 'I am a Christian', I don't speak of this with pride. I'm confessing that I stumble and need Christ to be my guide.   When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not trying to be strong. I'm professing that I'm weak and need His strength to carry on.  When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not bragging of success. I'm admitting I have failed and need God to clean my mess.  When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not claiming to be perfect. My flaws are far too visible, but God believes I am worth it. When I say 'I am a Christian', I still feel the sting of pain. I have my share of heartaches, so I call upon His name. When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not holier than you. I’m just a simple sinner who received God...

Today Reminder – 7 August 2014 (Day 5 – Return to Proverbs)

A reminder for today Honour the LORD with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce. Then he will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with good wine. (Proverbs 3:9-10) When we realise that all we are and all that we are good at is a blessing from the Lord we soon see how we can honour Him with these wonderful talents. I give all the credit to the Lord for all that I accomplish and all that I do and I am humbled by the way He continues to give me wisdom in my work. The promise here is much greater than we realise. When we honour Him with all that we produce, He will fill our barns and let our vats overflow. This to me means that the more we honour Him in what we produce (do) the more He will bless what we do up to the extend where we will see His blessings and they will leave us completely overwhelmed. In the end all that we have comes from God and He will increase what we have when we seek Him above all and live to bring glory to Him. ...

Today Reminder (Boxes) – 9 November 2017

A reminder for today   I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End [the Eternal One]. (Revelation 22:13 ) When you are reading this, I will be well on my way to my parents. Today is their moving day and we are off to help. Now, when it comes to moving I am almost an expert. We moved a few times and I can tell you it was never fun. Even still today our furniture starts to shake when a truck drives by. Now moving is all about boxes. Your stuff goes into the box and then onto the truck and finally at the new destination the stuff comes out of the box. One thing I can tell you is that with every move our stuff got lesser and lesser, because I gave some away that I thought we do not need anymore. Some would think I just made it less and easier to move. I would argue the opposite, but surely everyone is entitled to their own opinion. When we look at life it is a bit like moving. You see we experience things in life and we box it. This c...
