Today Reminder – 09 December 2013 (Day 5 – A Real Christmas)

A reminder for today
"My life passes more swiftly than a runner. It flees away without a glimpse of happiness. It disappears like a swift papyrus boat, like an eagle swooping down on its prey.” (Job 9:25-26)

A great man passed away last week, as our nation mourn the death of Nelson Mandela. He had shown remorse and compassion in a time when it was most difficult. He united a nation and brought freedom to so many. God had blessed him with a long and good life, yet 95 years go by much faster than we think. Time is the one thing we cannot control and with time comes age and with age comes death.

So as we get closer to Christmas it is custom for people to look back at the year and reflect on all the good and the bad and be grateful for all the wonderful blessing we received from God. There are a thousand things we can list and it could take time going back to each month and remembering all that has happened.

I want to focus on two things: Health and family. These to me are the greatest gifts that we can have from the gracious hand of our Lord. I always think about Nick Vujicic who was born without arms and legs and yet he makes such a huge impact in the world taking the Word of God to people all over the world and showing his unbreakable spirit despite his condition. Nick says, “If God can use a man without arms and legs to be His hands and feet, then He will certainly use any willing heart!”

So there is much to be grateful for and even more when we have family and friends to share in our lives and our daily struggles. Let us not look back at the year that is quickly coming to an end, but let us look ahead to the year that awaits us. Let us turn our eyes to the Lord and enter 2014 with a renewed trust and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ who gave His life for us. Let us take each moment and appreciate the time we have and the time we are given and let us stop wasting time and let us focus on living a life where Jesus will be clearly visible and people will be able to find Him in us.

Come and let us celebrate Christmas knowing that there is much more that awaits us in a  life where Jesus rules.

Have and awesome day dear friend of Jesus

Cheers
