Today Reminder – 18 December 2013 (Day 12 – A Real Christmas)

A reminder for today
"How frail is humanity! How short is life, how full of trouble!” (Job 14:1)

I woke up this morning with Clive Richard’s song “Mistletoe and Wine” in my head and now it is stuck in my head. I am thinking about the true meaning of Christmas and I know as we step into this season with joy and celebration there are people out there that will not have the same joy due to circumstances or difficulties. I was watching the trouble that is currently sweeping over the Central African Republic and as we are preparing our homes for Christmas with decorations and gifts, they are arming themselves walking around with guns. Yet we will argue and fight over nonsense while we are so fortunate and blessed.

When I read this verse in Job 14 it just dawned on me again how much time we waste in life. We have a responsibility to be Christians and to be more than the average, uncertain and ignorant person. Why do we hurt when we can uplift and why don’t we humble ourselves before God and live the time we have fully for His glory.

As much as it is my desire that we have a real Christmas focussing on the real reason for celebrating Christmas it is also imperative that it does not stop at Christmas. The gift of Jesus Christ is not a once in a year thing, it should be an all the time thing. We should celebrate the birth of Jesus each and every day by living it out and being true Christians. If you accepted Jesus as your saviour then you have given up on your old life to live a new life in Him and this, my dear friend, is why I am focussing your attention again on the fact that life is short. Life is filled with trouble as Job says and this is so true. Trouble is designed by satan to make us stumble, but God allows trouble to bring us closer to Him.

There should be no doubt in you about how much God loves you. You should also understand that time is not on our side. Time is water in a desert, here today and gone tomorrow. Do not waste time this Christmas on nonsense, but spend your time wisely following the example set by Jesus. It is to love and when we love, let us love unconditionally, because we might never get the chance again. Satan is all about fear and anger, where God is all about love and peace. So take a moment and just open your heart and allow God to fill it with His peace and His love and then carry that with you wherever you go and sprinkle it on everyone you meet so that we can destroy fear and anger and replace it with love, joy and peace.

The child is a King, the Carollers sing,
The old has passed, there's a new beginning.
Dreams of Santa, dreams of snow,
Fingers numb, faces aglow.

Christmas time, Mistletoe and Wine
Children singing Christian rhyme
With logs on the fire and gifts on the tree
A time to rejoice in the good that we see

A time for living, a time for believing
A time for trusting, not deceiving,
Love and laughter and joy ever after,
Ours for the taking, just follow the master.

Christmas time, Mistletoe and Wine
Children singing Christian rhyme
With logs on the fire and gifts on the tree
A time to rejoice in the good that we see

Silent night, holy night

A time for giving, a time for getting,
A time for forgiving and for forgetting.
Christmas is love, Christmas is peace,
A time for hating and fighting to cease.

Christmas time, Mistletoe and Wine
Children singing Christian rhyme
With logs on the fire and gifts on the tree
A time to rejoice in the good that we see
(Cliff Richard – Mistletoe And Wine)

Have and awesome day dear friend of Jesus

Cheers
