Today Reminder – 4 August 2014 (Day 2 – Return to Proverbs)

A reminder for today
Such is the fate of all who are greedy for money; it robs them of life (Proverbs 1:19)

They say “Money makes the world go round” and the desire for wealth and power is as old as the earth. From the beginning people desired to be rich and wealthy as they wanted to be like God. Eve was tricked into believing the forbidden fruit would give her wisdom so that she would be like God. The woman was convinced. She saw that the tree was beautiful and its fruit looked delicious, and she wanted the wisdom it would give her. So she took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it, too (Genesis 3:6). Her lust for power drove her to follow the lies of the serpent and in the end disobey God that altered their way of live and banished them from the Garden of Eden. Greed robs us of life. The unquenchable desire for more will destroy you. People walk over other in their lust for power that they do not care who they hurt and destroy in their ravenous plunder. Be content with what you have so that you can spend time living your life instead of wasting your time to fill an empty emotion that desires more and more until it destroys who you are. In the end money does make the world go round, a tiny world that you make for yourself that spins on an axis of false hope that you invent with your desire to be like God. This becomes a foundation that is built on sand that will fall down in the smallest of storms. The real world does not go round because of money. It turns round and round, because it was made by the very God that will give you all you need. Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for (Matthew 7).

Have an awesome day dear friend of Jesus

Cheers
