Today Reminder - 01 October 2013 (Day 1 - Living in the Kingdom)

A reminder for today
This strengthened the kingdom of Judah, and for three years they supported Rehoboam son of Solomon, for during those years they faithfully followed in the footsteps of David and Solomon. (2 Chronicles 11:17)

How are you my dear friend? We kick of this new month of October with our focus on living in the kingdom of God. Remember yesterday I told you that you have been moved from the kingdom of darkness to the reign and rule of the new kingdom of light when you accepted Jesus as your saviour.

Today I would like to start with the understanding of what a kingdom is. Rehoboam became king after Solomon and ruled over the kingdom of Judah for a number of years. Although he made terrible mistakes he followed in the footsteps of David and Solomon. Now firstly we need to understand what a kingdom is.

A kingdom is a territory ruled by a king and influenced by him. It is not ruled by a Prime Minister or a President. The king influences the territory by his action, character and lifestyle. In the kingdom, everything is owned by the king: the properties, buildings, cars, wealth, the land, everything! He even owns the people or his citizens. Therefore, since the king owns his citizens, he is responsible for their welfare. On the contrary, in the democratic form of government, the President does not provide for the welfare of his people. In fact, it is even the people that provide for the President through paying taxes.

The kingdom system is totally opposite of the democratic form of government. In the democratic form, the people vote in the President or the Prime Minister, therefore, the people own their leader. Whereas in the kingdom system, you cannot vote in the king because it is the king who chooses his people. In the kingdom, you cannot vote out the king unlike in the democratic system wherein when  people are dissatisfied with the performance of the President or the Prime Minister, they can easily put him out of the position through impeachment.

My dear friend, you live under the rule of a king and we must understand this in order to function correctly in the kingdom of God, for we are His subjects chosen by Him - You didn't choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name. (John 15:16)

Come with me as we walk in the kingdom of God living a live that satisfies our King Jesus.

Have and awesome day dear friend of Jesus

Cheers
