Today Reminder – 20 November 2015

A reminder for today
When Jesus came by, he looked up at Zacchaeus and called him by name. "Zacchaeus!" he said. "Quick, come down! I must be a guest in your home today." Zacchaeus quickly climbed down and took Jesus to his house in great excitement and joy. But the people were displeased. "He has gone to be the guest of a notorious sinner," they grumbled. (Luke 19:5-7)

Zacchaeus was the chief tax collector in the region and he had become very rich. But when Zacchaeus met Jesus he was so affected by the wonder of Jesus that he completely changed. Meanwhile, Zacchaeus stood before the Lord and said, "I will give half my wealth to the poor, Lord, and if I have cheated people on their taxes, I will give them back four times as much!" (Verse 8)

You have got to be completely surprised by this transformation that happened to Zacchaeus and how Jesus changed this sinner into this model Christian. How many rich people you know has done the same. How many people are willing to give half of their wealth away and refund all they crooked in their lives? For that matter how many people will turn back and seek forgiveness from the people they have hurt and do all and anything in their power to heal the pain of those they hurt. How many people will give up their pride and humble themselves so that they can give back what they have destroyed? I do not know many and I must say it is sad to know how selfish pride can take away a person’s salvation.

Jesus responded, "Salvation has come to this home today, for this man has shown himself to be a true son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost." (Verse 9-10)

So today I want to remind you to be a true son of Abraham. Do not let pride be the downfall of your salvation and do not allow wealth and vanity destroy you. Jesus came to seek those who are lost so do not look down on sinners but rather try and help them back on the path to Jesus.

Lord I pray that we will change just like Zacchaeus did and that our hearts will be full of your glory so that we will seek not our own selfish pride but that we will be true sons of Abraham and give as you have given to us. Love without holding back. In Jesus name.

Have and awesome day dear friend of Jesus

Cheers
