Today Reminder (Rise up) – 5 July 2018

A reminder for today
Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk. (John 5:8)

This week has been a long week but amazingly I have survived a few challenges and I am glad it is Friday tomorrow. We have a lot of work and the time to complete it is running out at an incredible speed. It is unbelievable how quickly this year is flying by. We are taking a few days of and we are taking the kids to a nearby lodge with lots of fun activities. The holiday is long, and they are in the house the whole time, so a change of scenery will do us all good. My work is going along, because I have way too much to do still.

You have got to love Jesus in this chapter. Here He is on a sabbath and He heals a man that had an infirmity (illness, disability) for thirty-eight years. Jesus merely told him to take his bed and go and the man was healed. It took a moment of faith from the man, but his encounter with Jesus changed his life.

This was a turning point in the process leading up to the capture of Jesus and finally the crucifixion. Now I do not want to go into that today, but I want to stop at “Rise, take your bed and go”. The healing moment. You see Jesus showed His deity in a number of ways throughout His life but this one is special in the sense that the moment Jesus spoke, the man reacted immediately.

Now one could speculate about this that he must have heard about Jesus and how He healed other before this day or you could just accept that the minute you meet Jesus something happens that is unexplainable in human words.

The way Jesus alters a life and change a heart is remarkable. So, what is my reminder today? I merely want to remind you to rise up. Stand up in faith and walk in faith. The joy of the Lord is contagious and as we carry His life-giving Spirit with us we will see how He touches lives and change people. Rise my friend and let the Holy Spirit guide you through your day and through your challenges.

Have an awesome day dear friend of Jesus.

Cheers
