Today Reminder - 30 April 2013 (A new heart)

A reminder for today
As Saul turned and started to leave, God gave him a new heart, and all Samuel's signs were fulfilled that day. When Saul and his servant arrived at Gibeah, they saw a group of prophets coming toward them. Then the Spirit of God came powerfully upon Saul, and he, too, began to prophesy. (1 Samuel 10:9-10)

God gave him a new heart. This verse was stuck in my head all day yesterday. Why did God gave Saul a new heart? God chose Saul, a handsome man much taller than any other, to be King and to rule over Israel. Saul must’ve lacked some of the qualities that were needed for a king therefore God changed him. God made him a new man full of the Holy Spirit.
Sometimes God needs to change hearts. I believe we can so easily get stuck in our ways in how we think and what we do and how we react. Sure life changes us and I agree circumstances too, but it is in our hearts where we must be most careful. God changed Saul’s heart to be a better man, and sometimes God needs to change our hearts so that we can be better than our previous self. Do we allow God to change us? When we accept Jesus Christ as our saviour and the Holy Spirit enters our lives, we must also allow our hearts to be changed. In this I believe we must leave our old ways behind us. We must forget who we were, forgive other and forgive ourselves and change our focus so that we look forward towards God.

We can so easily dwell in the past and allow our own history to influence our future.

My dear friend, when God washes you clean with the blood of Jesus there is no condemnation. There is no more old you. There is only a newly made person with a new heart filled with the Holy Spirit. What is behind you is forgotten and forgiven and what lies ahead is destiny. Yes, we make mistakes and yes, we fall. Why? We make mistakes and fall from time to time to learn, to grow stronger and stand up again knowing that this life is not something we can defeat on our own, thus making our dependency on God so much more powerful pulling us closer to Him. It is when we stand up again, allowing God to continue to change our hearts, that we slowly mature into the person God needs us to be.

Come with me today as we stand up again and face our challenges with God, because with Him there is no end to our strength and no way we will ever give up.

Have an awesome day dear friend of Jesus.

Cheers
