Today Reminder – 03 June 2014 (Day 02 – Stand up)

A reminder for today
Guide my steps by your word, so I will not be overcome by evil. (Psalm 119:133)

I woke up this morning with a tired feeling. I don’t know if you have ever felt that no matter how hard you try things just don’t seem to get to a point where they are normal. I must admit I’ll even settle for just ok, yet the more we try and the more we change the less it seems to work. I looked at my income versus my expenses and I must admit it was a horror movie at best. Life seems so demanding all by itself that when we are burdened with emotional issues we are moving closer to that edge where things become unbearable. I got this picture in my head of someone crossing a desert with the hope of finding water over the next sand dune just to get to the top and to see another dune. How many dunes will we climb before fatigue takes over and we become emotionless beings waiting for the end to come?

Standing on top of my dune today looking at all the dunes around me with no sign of water (relief) I realised that I am looking in the wrong direction. When I look ahead I see only dry sand with imminent death as a result and I do not see the clouds forming above my head with the promise of rain. When we look at life, and the burdens that lie so heavily upon us, we miss the hand of God that hangs over us. When we focus on the world we will never reach a place free from fear. Do not look at the dunes and the dark that lies in the distance, but stand up and look up at the God that is sending you the help you need. Look up at the saviour that gave His life and see His hand coming to rescue you.

Lord don’t let us lose faith, but instead guide our steps by your Word, so that we will not be overcome by evil.

Have an awesome day dear friend of Jesus

Cheers

Just to remind you

When I say that 'I am a Christian', I am not shouting that 'I am clean living. I'm whispering 'I was lost, but now I'm found and forgiven.'  When I say 'I am a Christian', I don't speak of this with pride. I'm confessing that I stumble and need Christ to be my guide.   When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not trying to be strong. I'm professing that I'm weak and need His strength to carry on.  When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not bragging of success. I'm admitting I have failed and need God to clean my mess.  When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not claiming to be perfect. My flaws are far too visible, but God believes I am worth it. When I say 'I am a Christian', I still feel the sting of pain. I have my share of heartaches, so I call upon His name. When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not holier than you. I’m just a simple sinner who received God...

Today Reminder – 7 August 2014 (Day 5 – Return to Proverbs)

A reminder for today Honour the LORD with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce. Then he will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with good wine. (Proverbs 3:9-10) When we realise that all we are and all that we are good at is a blessing from the Lord we soon see how we can honour Him with these wonderful talents. I give all the credit to the Lord for all that I accomplish and all that I do and I am humbled by the way He continues to give me wisdom in my work. The promise here is much greater than we realise. When we honour Him with all that we produce, He will fill our barns and let our vats overflow. This to me means that the more we honour Him in what we produce (do) the more He will bless what we do up to the extend where we will see His blessings and they will leave us completely overwhelmed. In the end all that we have comes from God and He will increase what we have when we seek Him above all and live to bring glory to Him. ...

Today Reminder (Boxes) – 9 November 2017

A reminder for today   I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End [the Eternal One]. (Revelation 22:13 ) When you are reading this, I will be well on my way to my parents. Today is their moving day and we are off to help. Now, when it comes to moving I am almost an expert. We moved a few times and I can tell you it was never fun. Even still today our furniture starts to shake when a truck drives by. Now moving is all about boxes. Your stuff goes into the box and then onto the truck and finally at the new destination the stuff comes out of the box. One thing I can tell you is that with every move our stuff got lesser and lesser, because I gave some away that I thought we do not need anymore. Some would think I just made it less and easier to move. I would argue the opposite, but surely everyone is entitled to their own opinion. When we look at life it is a bit like moving. You see we experience things in life and we box it. This c...
