A reminder for
today
“Come to Me, all who
are weary and heavily burdened [by religious rituals that provide no peace],
and I will give you rest [refreshing your souls with salvation]. Take
My yoke upon you and learn from Me [following Me as My disciple], for I am
gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest (renewal, blessed quiet) for
your souls. For My yoke is easy [to bear] and My burden is
light.” (Matthew
11:28-30)
Our software is final, and it is released to the company.
What a week! I walked out of the office just before eleven last night as we
were finalising a few issues that was high priority. So, you can imagine I am
exhausted, because like every other day I got up early and went to the gym
(fanatic, yes. Terrible).
From next week I am on leave, so I am taking a few days of. We
are not going anywhere, but there are a few things I need to do around the
house. The last few months we worked so much that I did not get anytime for the
little things. Don’t you find that life is one huge rush from one minute to the
next. It is a chase for all the wrong things as we tend to neglect the little
things.
Jesus came, and He made this amazing statement. He said that
we who are heavily burdened must come to Him and He will give us rest. He says
that we will find our rest in Him. To me it means simply that when we look for
Jesus we will stop looking for the things that pollute our lives and seek that
which gives meaning to the little things.
Life is not always about the glamour and the highs. It is
about the things that will make life worth living it. It is the love we give
and receive, and it is how we take on our challenges and face our fears. It is
about Jesus and how He touches lives from the most broken to the highest flyers.
It is not about what we have and how well we live, it is about the quality of life
we have. It is what we do for the Lord and what we do for Him for other.
It is about a smile in a storm and to laugh when we are wet
from rain. It is slipping and getting up again and it is giving all you have
when you have nothing left. It is going the distance and doing it for His
glory. Jesus said that His yoke is easy to carry and His burden light. This means
that we have only two laws when we follow Him. Love the Lord your God and love
other, because with love we can change the world.
The song “Love is all around” was actually not so far off,
because God is everywhere, and God is love. His love is everywhere, because Jesus
died for all of us.
Lord, thank you for all that you do for us. In Jesus name.
