reminder for today
But
you, O LORD, are a shield around me; you are my glory, the one who holds my
head high. (Psalm 3:3)
For
you bless the godly, O LORD; you surround them with your shield of love. (Psalm
5:12)
God
is my shield, saving those whose hearts are true and right. (Psalm 7:10)
With every new horizon we are faced with many challenges
and the enemy waits around every corner to find a way to make us stumble and
fall. I have had this image of a shield in my head since yesterday, but the
image I have is not like a normal shield that a warrior would carry to protect
himself from an attacking foe. My image is a shield like protective clothing
that surrounds you. David writes; O LORD,
are a shield around me and O LORD; you
surround them with your shield.
The Lord wants us to know that His shield of love is all
around us. It protects us from all sides and the top and the bottom. No attack
from the enemy can hurt us, because God’s shield leaves no place open for them
to hurt us.
The word “shield” means: protect, guard, defend, shelter
and screen. God protects us from harm’s way, guards us from danger, defends us
against accusations, shelters us when we are weak and screens everything that
comes our way. Nothing can touch us, until it goes through God’s screening
process first.
There may be times in your life when you feel like you
have been hit by a ton of bricks. Believe it or not, but that experience had to
first go through God’s screening process. And His screening process is more
accurate than that of any airport! There is no shelter, no protector, like God
Himself.
God is your shield and He will save those whose hearts
are true and right.
