Today Reminder (Resist) – 4 September 2018

A reminder for today
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (James 4:7)

I love this verse and it came up in my thoughts again this weekend, so I decided to share it again. I bookmarked this one so that I can continually remind myself how to let the enemy flee from me. I guess it is something we all struggle with every day. Some days we resist and some days we fail to resist. What happens when we fail?

Well it is quite simple, when we fail the enemy wins and he gets to pull you down with a smile. Failing is submitting to the temptations and lies that enemy uses to confuse us and to point us in the wrong direction. Let’s look at a few examples of failing when the enemy comes around. Do you play the lotto, or do you gamble sometimes? This is the enemy’s way of confusing you into the idea that you could win your blessings. Jesus said: “Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?” (Matthew 6:26)

When you argue with someone or a loved one, do you go back and say sorry or talk it out? Paul writes in Ephesians 4:26 “Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil.”

Once again, we are reminded that we should not open a space for the devil that he can use against us in our own destruction.

Do you trust God for the outcome or the answer to you prayer or do you go ahead and make your own decision out of impatience or just because you think that is what God wanted? God tells Joshua in Joshua 1:9 “Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”

It all boils down to one simple thing. Resist the enemy. Submit to God and resist the enemy.
Now to all of you that are married I want to add this, because understanding this will keep the enemy out of your relationship:

Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God. Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

Have an awesome day dear friend of Jesus.

Cheers
