Today Reminder (The things above) – 13 September 2018

A reminder for today
Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. (Colossians 3:2)

So, today I want to remind you that we need to change our focus away from what is worldly to that which is heavenly. Jesus made it clear when He said in Matthew 6 “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

Paul says you must put your affection on things above and not on things on earth. Affection is a gentle feeling of fondness or liking. So, the things that you care for should be the things that is in heaven. You can not take your house or your car or your money with you, but the people you love and the God that loves you is the things that should take priority above the things of this world.

We looked at the lost and how they chose the worldly beliefs over the existence of God and I pointed out to you how fallible their arguments are and how they insist on evidence, but they do not look at the evidence. You see if you want to buy something you do not need, and you know it is going to put you in financial strain you will find hundreds of reasons why you need it and not the extra income.

When you look at atheists they seem a little like that. They seem to want something that they do not need, but that which is important to their well being is argued away by a number of reasons not to believe. It is a simple matter of perception and want to understand versus the “I” and the need for something to not exists so that their focus can remain on the "not needed".

Basically, their affection is in the world and your affection is in heaven. This obviously is difficult to understand for most of them until they actually start to look at the evidence and change the perception. This means we start to look from a truth point of view and we stop looking at the lie to get the truth.

So, I remind you to keep your focus on God and the things of eternity and continue to pray as often as you can. This life is but a mere moment and I would love to meet you in heaven, my friend. Be strong and do not let the enemy get the better of you. Keep trusting God and follow His voice and be courageous in the challenges you face. You are in my prayers, always.

Have an awesome day dear friend of Jesus.

Cheers
