Today Reminder – 24 June 2015 (Day 17 – Break the walls)

A reminder for today
The LORD is my shepherd; I have all that I need. (Psalm 23:1)

We are so quick to look at material things as a need in our lives. We allow possessions to create walls between us and the Lord. We measure success in what we have and who we are. We elevate ourselves to a position where we see only ourselves and we hide God so that we can call on Him only when we feel like it.

Every morning when I pick up the kids I look at our home which we now sold and I feel sad to lose it. I really liked that house and the area, but today I know that it is only a brick in my wall that I have created between me and the Lord. It is only a house, but to me it is the memories that fades away with it.

David writes here that the Lord is His keeper and he’s got all that he needs. I have read these verses a million times but today I see them the way the Holy Spirit wants me to look at them. With Jesus we have all that we need, because it is not the need of the world that we must focus on, it is the need to be with Jesus in eternity. All the possessions in the world will not be able to give you entry to heaven. Jesus is the only way and His way is a humble and content way. Jesus showed us that we do not need possessions.

Jesus told him, "If you want to be perfect, go and sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." But when the young man heard this, he went away sad, for he had many possessions. (Matthew 19:21-22)

These verses must let you think - We do not need “stuff”, we need Jesus. We need to look past our self and we need to see Jesus and the way He wants us to be. He wants us to live and be free. He will look after us and protect us. We must give Him our lives and live for His glory and not our own glory.

Be humble, my friend, because in our humbleness we will show great strength.

Have and awesome day dear friend of Jesus

Cheers

Just to remind you

When I say that 'I am a Christian', I am not shouting that 'I am clean living. I'm whispering 'I was lost, but now I'm found and forgiven.'  When I say 'I am a Christian', I don't speak of this with pride. I'm confessing that I stumble and need Christ to be my guide.   When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not trying to be strong. I'm professing that I'm weak and need His strength to carry on.  When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not bragging of success. I'm admitting I have failed and need God to clean my mess.  When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not claiming to be perfect. My flaws are far too visible, but God believes I am worth it. When I say 'I am a Christian', I still feel the sting of pain. I have my share of heartaches, so I call upon His name. When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not holier than you. I’m just a simple sinner who received God...

Today Reminder – 7 August 2014 (Day 5 – Return to Proverbs)

A reminder for today Honour the LORD with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce. Then he will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with good wine. (Proverbs 3:9-10) When we realise that all we are and all that we are good at is a blessing from the Lord we soon see how we can honour Him with these wonderful talents. I give all the credit to the Lord for all that I accomplish and all that I do and I am humbled by the way He continues to give me wisdom in my work. The promise here is much greater than we realise. When we honour Him with all that we produce, He will fill our barns and let our vats overflow. This to me means that the more we honour Him in what we produce (do) the more He will bless what we do up to the extend where we will see His blessings and they will leave us completely overwhelmed. In the end all that we have comes from God and He will increase what we have when we seek Him above all and live to bring glory to Him. ...

Today Reminder (Boxes) – 9 November 2017

A reminder for today   I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End [the Eternal One]. (Revelation 22:13 ) When you are reading this, I will be well on my way to my parents. Today is their moving day and we are off to help. Now, when it comes to moving I am almost an expert. We moved a few times and I can tell you it was never fun. Even still today our furniture starts to shake when a truck drives by. Now moving is all about boxes. Your stuff goes into the box and then onto the truck and finally at the new destination the stuff comes out of the box. One thing I can tell you is that with every move our stuff got lesser and lesser, because I gave some away that I thought we do not need anymore. Some would think I just made it less and easier to move. I would argue the opposite, but surely everyone is entitled to their own opinion. When we look at life it is a bit like moving. You see we experience things in life and we box it. This c...
