Today Reminder – 1 November 2016

A reminder for today
Don't act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do. Don't be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit.(Ephesians 5:17-18)

Last night they had Jaws on one of the channels and I watched it for a little while. I saw it when I was still in school and to watch it again last night I must admit it was not the same. Technology really changed the way we look at movies. What caught me for a moment is how the characters in the movie make themselves available for danger. They would deliberately go and swim in the night or when they are attacked they will not try and get away they will wait for the next attack. They almost acted thoughtlessly not understanding the danger. Alcohol makes modern people act like that in today’s modern world. With all the technology and health magazines and with medical aids focusing on living healthy people still drink alcohol and they still smoke. I guess it is something like telling a child not to touch a hot plate and they still do it. The only difference is that the child will not touch a hot plate again, where a smoker or a drinker will continue to do so. It is all about choices and I know because I too made the same mistakes, until one day I realized that this is not what God wants and I made a conscious decision to change. In the end it is a choice you make and if you make that choice with you mind determined to change, you will. But if you quit now and start again and then want to quit but you don’t then you have not made a choice. You are actually fooling yourself.

So today my challenge is that you do not act thoughtlessly, but seek what God wants you to do.

Lord, I pray for all of us caught up in the grip of alcohol and all other addicted substances. I pray that you will guide us and give us strength so that we will defeat the enemy and rid ourselves from an addiction. In Jesus name.

Have an awesome day dear friend of Jesus.

Cheers

Just to remind you

When I say that 'I am a Christian', I am not shouting that 'I am clean living. I'm whispering 'I was lost, but now I'm found and forgiven.'  When I say 'I am a Christian', I don't speak of this with pride. I'm confessing that I stumble and need Christ to be my guide.   When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not trying to be strong. I'm professing that I'm weak and need His strength to carry on.  When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not bragging of success. I'm admitting I have failed and need God to clean my mess.  When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not claiming to be perfect. My flaws are far too visible, but God believes I am worth it. When I say 'I am a Christian', I still feel the sting of pain. I have my share of heartaches, so I call upon His name. When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not holier than you. I’m just a simple sinner who received God...

Today Reminder – 7 August 2014 (Day 5 – Return to Proverbs)

A reminder for today Honour the LORD with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce. Then he will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with good wine. (Proverbs 3:9-10) When we realise that all we are and all that we are good at is a blessing from the Lord we soon see how we can honour Him with these wonderful talents. I give all the credit to the Lord for all that I accomplish and all that I do and I am humbled by the way He continues to give me wisdom in my work. The promise here is much greater than we realise. When we honour Him with all that we produce, He will fill our barns and let our vats overflow. This to me means that the more we honour Him in what we produce (do) the more He will bless what we do up to the extend where we will see His blessings and they will leave us completely overwhelmed. In the end all that we have comes from God and He will increase what we have when we seek Him above all and live to bring glory to Him. ...

Today Reminder (Boxes) – 9 November 2017

A reminder for today   I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End [the Eternal One]. (Revelation 22:13 ) When you are reading this, I will be well on my way to my parents. Today is their moving day and we are off to help. Now, when it comes to moving I am almost an expert. We moved a few times and I can tell you it was never fun. Even still today our furniture starts to shake when a truck drives by. Now moving is all about boxes. Your stuff goes into the box and then onto the truck and finally at the new destination the stuff comes out of the box. One thing I can tell you is that with every move our stuff got lesser and lesser, because I gave some away that I thought we do not need anymore. Some would think I just made it less and easier to move. I would argue the opposite, but surely everyone is entitled to their own opinion. When we look at life it is a bit like moving. You see we experience things in life and we box it. This c...
